Live music w/ Dylan Fox and The Wave ~ Kate Kilbane (Indie)
When: Sat, December 11
born and raised in ft. worth, texas, kate kilbane drove to new york city in 2002, where she spent her twenties writing songs. in the summer of 2009, she packed her life into her car and drove across the country, stopping in sixteen cities to play shows on her first solo tour. she finished the tour by driving across the bay bridge and landing in her new city: san francisco.
kate recently recorded the medea cycle ep, which features four songs from a twelve song cycle that tells the story of the greek heroine, medea, from her point of view. medea’s story is one of a woman who sacrifices everything–her creative powers, her family, and her home–for love. when that love dissolves, she has to decide what she will do with her rage and her broken heart.
kate plays bass in her band, which includes drums, piano, and several additional voices, and she tells the story of medea in between songs, creating a hybrid form that is two parts rock show to one part theatrical event. she currently performs in san francisco, los angeles, and new york city.
