For the first time in 25 Years Head On’s original members Frank, Howard, James, Mark, and Rick will play a special show at El Rio in San Francisco with special guest **Jetboy** San Francisco Bay Area’s own all original HEAD ON is playing one very special show at El Rio in San Francisco!

Head On was started by James Ray, a guitar player transplanted from New Mexico to the San Francisco Bay Area. He soon recruited Mark Berglund, a Bay Area native, as lead vocalist and song writer. Together with Ray, Mark wrote a majority of Head On’s material. Rick Tweed and Howard Teman (bass guitar and drums respectively) were soon added as was lead guitarist Frank Wilsey.

Working their way through and eventually dominating the San Francisco club scene, Head On went on to support such bands as Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Joe Perry, Y&T, Motörhead, Aldo Nova, Kix, Shooting Star and others. Noted for their lively and outrageous shows, Head On was likened to such bands as the New York Dolls and Aerosmith.

During its brief career (1980–1984) Head On released several independent collections that were sold at local retailers in the San Francisco Bay Area. They were featured and landed covers on local underground publications as well as being reviewed in the well known British rock magazine Kerrang! Their music was played on local radio stations and the band made guest appearances on local TV. [wikipedia]

The PEPPERSPRAY (6pm)
http://www.peppersprayband.com/
Patti Smith. Anna Nicole Smith. Robert Smith. The Smiths. Smith & Wesson. The strobe light of celebrity flashes and the stars collide in your mind. Eclectic streams of influence merge and an electric new superband strongerges. Witness the cultural marvel that is PEPPERSPRAY! Each of these award winning Z-list megastars have marked their turf internationally in music, film, fashion, dance, design, porn and theatre. Collectively, as PEPPERSPRAY, they have dragged the age-old institution of female impersonation back into the Rock ‘n’ Roll spotlight.

This is an ass-kickin’ real live band with all the glamour and humor of a killer drag show. They’ve opened for Cher and Scissor Sisters. They’ve headlined the biggest street fairs in the US of A. The San Francisco Examiner calls PEPPERSPRAY “…a combination of The Spice Girls and The Sex Pistols”. They are impossibly cool and deliriously fun. Their live shows regularly thrill audiences of every jaded age and persuasion with a spicy set of inflammatory originals and crackling pop and rock covers.

Whoa Nellies

Whoa Nellies

Whoa Nellies (4:30 pm)

The Whoa Nellies are an ultra-mod sextet specializing in classic three-part harmony pop songs from the mid-to-late 60′s and early 70′s….

Special guests with Fleigh and members of Mighty Slim Pickins 5:30 pm

The Bobbleheads (7:30pm)
http://www.thebobbleheads.com/
Formed in 2003, the Bobbleheads, John Ashfield (guitar, vocals), Phil Bulan (drums, vocals), Eugene Koh (bass) have been delighting audiences with their songs of playful yet adult elementary-school infused pop. Their melodies will stick with you long after the song is over, but don’t confuse catchy with kitschy. Their bottom line is held down by Phil’s steady-on drumming and Eugene’s rock-in-your-face bass. John’s lyrics reveal they are happy music geeks, making the perfect 3-minute song and having fun along the way. According to The Bobbleheads, the world isn’t such a bad place after all.
