The Bitter Mystics (formerly D’Tension) grew from a partnership to produce a single song. That seed has sprouted almost 30 original tunes that this talented ensemble shares at venues in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area.
Bitter Mystics are smooth and sultry vocals backed by masterful acoustic rhythm and lead guitars, and violin energizing original songs spanning genres from bluegrass to folk, pop to swing.

Boy lion is a constantly modulating collaboration between Timothy Owen and talented musicians from around the bay area. Timothy grew up in Northern California and was writing music by age seven. Classically trained, Timothy has taken his love for the old-school songwriting of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Joni Mitchell and so many others and joined it with the intimacy and range of classical chamber music. His first full length record, coming out soon, showcases the range of his compositions from sparse tracks featuring only piano and voice, to complicated ensemble pieces. Boy Lion performances are always different from the one before, and tend to be highly organic showcases based on the vibe of the venue, crowd and complexity of the particular incarnation of the ensemble. Raw, unpolished, and disarmingly personal, ‘Woe is Me’ –the debut release from indie-folk newcomer Peter Squires– is a sweet and sincere portrait of a young man recovering from heartbreak.
