Lagtime is a three-piece, improv–fusion band. Our music is rooted in rocky fusion, but spans topics such as jazz, funk, reggae and blues. We live mostly down deep in the pocket, but with the liberating guidance of jazz, we make brief re–surfacings to the head to remind you of where you (we) are.

With us, interplay is the name of the game as each member feeds off the others. Rock-solid beats and jazzy tendencies open the door for groove–based, blues–inspired bass lines and a tapestry of infectious melodies and rock–god solos. [website]

The one question people ask us is why such a long name and why such a big band ? The idea of the band name and the group was concieved by Sean aka “Stymie” Sharp, after initially being recruited by the original Stymie group in the City of Compton (Los Angeles County). Having relocated to San Francisco and witnessing his new band’ s electrifying performances, Sean realized that the band needed it’s own identity and added the tag name ‘The Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra’ (PJLO).
