El Rio’s ANNIVERSARY PARTY: Celebrating 32 Fabulous Years!!!
When: Sat, October 9,
Time: 3pm
Cost: FREE
Details:
Fabulous Bands, Tasty CockTails, Scrumptious BBQ, Dangerous Dancing and Scantily Dressed Ladies- 3p-2am/ no cover Happy Hour 3-5p All Drinks 1/2 OFF House BBQ/Dinner 5 and 9p
The lineup:
4p JACK O’ THE CLOCK- American Folk/Experimental
http://www.myspace.com/jackotheclock/
http://www.jackotheclock.com

Jack O’The Clock brings a quietly giddy sort of energy to the possibilities that spring up where American folk songwriting meets experimental music. The group’s sound, a jangly mix of concert-hall agility, acoustic rock drive, and junk shop scouring, is characterized by innovative arrangements for combinations of instruments you are not likely to have heard elsewhere made possible by the vastly varied musical experience and multi-instrumentalism of its five members, who have played everything from new music to art metal to fingerstyle folk to free improvisation, sometimes in the same concert. Jack O’ The Clock’s recordings go beyond the group’s live sound to incorporate bits of on-location percussion, found sounds, clandestinely recorded monologues, citynoise, and all manner of insects and birds, as well as a number of guest musicians and singers.

445 MARIA MACHETES

The Mighty Slim Pickins

515 MIGHTY SLIM PICKENS (a special performance w Dottie Luz)- Rockabilly / Country / Showtunes)
http://www.myspace.com/mightyslimpickins
The Mighty Slim Pickins are a San Francisco based self-proclaimed “what-the-fuck-abilly” band. Blending vintage country, rockabilly and punk, this all-female all-queer outfit is a little bit heartache, a little bit hardcore and a whole lotta camp. With a healthy dose of power chords and a dash of musical theater, they put on a heart-pounding, knee-slapping show and they always look fantastic! [myspace]

The Judea Eden Band

6 THE JUDEA EDEN BAND- Rock/Folk Rock/Pop
http://www.myspace.com/thejudeaedenband
“Infectious Funky Rock-n-Roll!!” From the funky to the rock solid, this band has it all. Claiming roots in good old fashioned rock and adding bits of country, funk, soul and pop to their style, this band will get you out of your seat and on your feet dancing and swaying to groove they create. Lead singer Judea Eden (the namesake of the band) is a cross between Jeanette Napolitano, Etta James, Wynona Judd and Sheryl Crow. Growing up on Country Music, and listening to 70s Disco Funk and classic rock has made its mark on the Judea Eden Band and the end result is catchy tunes you cant stop singing long after the show is over.

Makrú

645 Makrú (World/Flamenco)
http://www.myspace.com/makrumusic
Landing in San Francisco from different parts of the world, various characters got together for different motives, goals and because it had to be that way, at the end of 2008 the became Makrú, a musical tool to express their points of view, ideals and support the causes they believe in, chasing equality and unifying people along the way . With influences of anything that can shake it Soul, Makrú sounds like smashing the earth and play it on a record player.

730 DIAMOND DAGGERS

Tartufi

745 TARTUFI- Pure Brilliance

http://www.myspace.com/tartufi

From UNDER YOUR BED!!! The BEST BAND from SCARY LAND!!

TARTUFI is Brian Gorman and Lynne Angel. They are friends. They are Koko and kitten. They are tar and feather. They are thunder and lightning. They are Salt N Pepa (sans Spinderella).

Dottie Lux

830 DOTTIE LUX (Red Hots Burlesque)- What your Mother warned you about
http://www.dottielux.com/
http://luxie-loo.livejournal.com/
Just like The City By The Bay, Dottie is known for her dizzying hills and dangerous curves. Well, hello San Francisco! She’s here. Hailing from New York City, where she’s known to cause a rucus with a horn, shake it up and bring bawdy brouhaha to well known stages like Coney Island Side Show, The Supper Club and Bowery Poetry Club. Also an educator, she has performed and lectured at NYU and Bard University. New Orleans, Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Seattle have all got a taste of Dottie’s chuckles, bumps and grinds.

“The New Burlesque is equal parts feminism and dada (this was probably true of the best of the old as well). Jo Boobs, Lady Ace, Dottie Lux, are a few performers that I think embody what I’m talking about. Ortgeist

8:45 WEED WOLF (Jenny Hoyston)
WeedWolf- Electro-theatric outfit Weed Wolf formed in 1997 when two wild animals decided to turn their difficulties adjusting to city life into a musical. Mr. Bear (Rob Spector – Bronze, F*ckwolf) plays the organ, Wolfie (Jenny Hoyston – Erase Errata) sings and they are occasionally joined on stage by Racoon Cop (Jarrett Mitchell) on back-up vocals, Kitty Cat on bass and The Raven on analog synths.

930 WORK BUDDIES

1030 THE EX BOYFRIENDS- PopPunk/Indie/Rock
http://www.myspace.com/exboyfriends
“Ex-Boyfriends stay true to their word and produce music that is layered, catchy, and more addictive with each listen. The group maintains the same themes and sounds, yet continues to succeed in discovering ways to make tracks different and interesting.” – Popmatters

1130 BRONZE and our rockin house dj’s!!!
