Quiet Coyote
it’s dancy, mathy, thick, a pack of coyotes whose call can be mistaken for a lonely banshee looking for a party on a cold desert night.
The Homewreckers
http://myspace.com/wewreckhomes
The Homewreckers are a pop-punk band who sing about lost love, the faults in human communication, being queer, latin america, getting your period, and fucking shit up. Featuring Cristy C. Road singing, gargling, thinking too much and playing guitar; Crystal Bradley (Partyline) playing drums; Jackie O. (Girlcrush) playing bass; and Turtle Garaufis (Rude Mechanical Orchestra) playing guitar. Frank Leone (The Unlovables) also plays guitar and is on our 7″, but does not come on tour. The Homewreckers live (and occasionally die) in Brooklyn New York.

It goes without saying that singer Lisa Kekaula has a voice thats as big as her Afro, and powerful enough to strip paint off of a car, and that her male comrades are all black belts on their respective instruments. What REALLY impressed me about their performance was the sincerity and passion behind it. [myspace]

Scott Young w/ Red Meat
Scott Young (Solo – from Red Meat!)
http://www.myspace.com/redmeatcountry
Carrying on the strong West Coast tradition of creating authentic country and western music with a sharp edge, the San Francisco based band Red Meat is dedicated to keeping honky tonk music fresh and alive. Formed in a garage in the Mission District in 1993, Red Meat takes its inspiration from the likes of Bakersfield legend Buck Owens, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr. and the Carter Family. They also count Gram Parsons as an influence and visually they recall the salad days of the Modesto, California-based Maddox Brothers and Sister Rose. [myspace]

Time: 9pm door; 10pm show
Cost: $7
Details
THE REACTION (ex-members of Hickoids / 50 Million / Kirby Grips)
http://www.myspace.com/thereactionsf
http://starcleaner.com/rightnow.htm
The conditions of the Reaction’s activity explain both its discipline and the forms of hostility it encounters. they are interested not in finding a niche in the present artistic edifice, but in undermining it. The Reaction is in the catacombs of visible culture. Our times thus compel us, once again, to write in a new way. Some elements will be intentionally omitted; and the plan will have to remain unclear. Listeners will encounter certain decoys, like the very hallmark of the era. As long as certain notes are interpolated here and there, the overall meaning may appear: just as secret clauses have very often been added to whatever treaties may openly stipulate; just as some chemical agents only reveal their hidden properties when they are combined with others. However, there will be only too many things which are, alas, easy to understand. The Reaction seeks to convey the tenuous balance between object and action by which they maintain the tentative relations with the forces they organize, and how they are inherently subject to change, capable of resisting closure and objectification by acknowledging and engaging NOISE . Inferno of Joy
Live music w/ Inferno Of Joy
When: Sat Mar 20
Time: 9pm door; 10pm show
Cost: $7
Details
INFERNO OF JOY (ex-members of Phoenix Thunderstone) – Headliner
http://www.myspace.com/infernoofjoy
Inferno of Joy was conceived a few years following the conflagration of San Francisco based Punk/ Rock n’ Roll band Phoenix Thunderstone- comprised of Sean, Neither/Neither World’s infamous Wendy Van Dusen, Hugh, Lemon DeGeorge, and ex- Dwarves Vadge Moore. Following a long search, Sean was able to locate Hugh in Burma. E-mail correspondence followed. Shortly thereafter, Sean, accompanied by millionaire International Playboy, sound engineer, and spiritual adviser Lemon DeGeorge, arrived in Asia to rendezvous with Hugh. In early 2006- a new music vision was realized. Armed with their experience touring extensively throughout the United States and Japan; a decision was made to sever ties with a record industry grown glaringly Jurassic, this new collaboration would have no musical bounds.
Upon returning to the United States, Argentinean bassist Adrian was recruited from a latin burlesque troupe, and percussion powerhouse- Brian, was fortuitously thwarted in his imminent Arizona relocation to a life of meditation and misanthropic solitude. The new campaign has begun… there’s a new VooDoo, determined to assassinate morality and all vestiges of bovine culture- an invitation to gaze unblinkingly into the depths of gods and men; the perfect ecstatic marriage of Heaven and Hell! the Inferno of Joy…[myspace]

Vacillating between the agit-driven punk rock they are famous for interspersed with galloping Irish trad (played fast loud, and sometimes Gaelic) with a twist. In the last century or so, technology has greatly altered how history was passed along, through radio, television, the internet, and movies. There once was a time where storytelling came by word of mouth; from parents and grandparents, to bards that played through the villages and towns. In the era of electronic media and communication, it seems as if the art of storytelling has fallen by the wayside. Luckily, strewn through out this modern landscape are a few remaining bards who are still willing to share with us their superbly executed, original songs.
The Filthy Thieving Bastards’ songwriting duo of Johnny Bonnel and Darius Koski are two of these aforementioned bards…[myspace]

The Yes Go's
The Yes-Go’s
http://www.myspace.com/theyesgos
The Yes Go’s were started by Sophie V writing music & playing songs on the guitar. In 2003, Lester Moore joined as drummer & back-up vox. With the addition of Mimi on lead vocals and Barbara on bass that summer, we became “Wednesday Night”. 5 days before our 1st gig, Mimi & Barbara (our Hungarian Hotties) were not allowed to stay in the U.S.A. (visa probs!) & we played our 1st show as a duo called Sik Suzan. In 2004, Blue Lew (Rotton Core), joined the band on bass & b.vox. We played shows off/on and had lots of fun, but we (BL. not inc.) drank too much, and we still didn’t really have an identity. Through Blue Lew’s departure in Summer 2006, it was back to a duo & the new name of The Yes Go’s fall ‘06 when the multi-facetd Djuna Gray became our bass player. It’s been balls to the walls ever since and The Yes Go’s love to play (alot) & can be found playing with many local & touring bands. We are continually amazed at the talent we see at all of S.F.’s venues. We are proud to share the bill with & be awed by such killer bands. Go out and see some shows cause we support local venues and killer music as well, cheers. [myspace]

Street Light Suzie
Live music w/ Street Light Suzie (TX)
When: Thu Jan 21
Time: 8pm
Cost: $5
Details:
Street Light Suzie
http://www.myspace.com/streetlightsuzie
It’s hard to convey the power of a live show through a CD, but Street Light Suzie pulls it off with seemingly no effort. Their debut album, “Red River Revival” is a raucous jaunt through everything that makes Rock-N-Roll fun.
-Karsten Kroos, Edge Magazine
Street light Suzie is a toxic trio consisting of Wiley Ross on Guitar and Vocals, Ben Evans on the Bass and Chuy Trevino on the drums. Street light Suzie began when Wiley moved to Austin from Springfield Missouri and Ben from Denver Colorado. The first handful of bands Ben tried playin with were a bunch of tools, as was the case with Wiley. So out of frustration Ben put an add in the musician section of the Chronicle that read, “looking for other musicians to drink beer, smoke pot and Rock out…” Wiley was one of the only few who responded. They immediatelly started practicing in Ben’s shitty apt. and once they had a handfull of songs down they started looking for a drummer. They went through 24 try outs (most so excrutiating we don’t even wanna talk about it) until they found Drummer 1. But only after a small handful of shows he left the band. As was the case with drummers 2, drummer 3 and 4. But none the less they made progress playing rowdy show after rowdy show. They now have landed Chuy Trevino on the drums and play shows all the time all over the United States. [myspace]

The Grannies
Live music w/ The Grannies
When: Sat Jan 9
Time: 9pm door; 10pm show
Cost: $8
Details:
The Grannies
http://www.myspace.com/thegrannies
Some people say the Grannies are the inevitable end result from a society that has abandoned its educational system and lost all contact with its morality and civic cohesiveness. The truth, of course, is much, much worse. The old, now defunct Mission Police Station, San Francisco circa 1999 is as good a birthplace as any for a phenomena as degenerate and altogether fucked up as The Grannies. The blame could be laid at the feet of Fate, but Fate already catches a lot of shit just by standing around, and really wants nothing to do with something as mentally debilitating as The Grannies anyway. Somewhere between 30 and 163 years old, they were drawn to each other there in the fetid human-ish stew slopped together in the holding cells. Petty crimes involving Wild Turkey, electricity, naugahyde, Top Ramen, pigeon feathers (”fresh”), Drano, or some combination thereof would be the official reasons for the various Grannies’ incarcerations that fateful night (yes, we know, Fate, you already cleared yourself, so piss off), if any official record existed. It became rapidly apparent that the group had been thrown together for a purpose…[myspace]
